In the United States more than 80% of buyers use the internet to view online real estate listings. In the Philippines, the percentage may be closer to 90% considering that most Filipino buyers of real estate are in other parts of the world working as Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
There are currently numerous real estate websites in the Philippines that are dedicated to real estate listings of properties all over the country. Two of such real estate listing websites is Property View Asia and Lamudi.
But aside from posting property listings in various real estate listing websites, do real estate brokers need real estate blogs? Blogging is a very important marketing tool especially in the age of the internet.
How can blogging be beneficial to your real estate business? There are several reasons in mind. First, by creating a real estate blog a real estate broker or salesperson can begin to be recognized as an “expert” in the particular territory and in observing real estate trends.
Second, you provide valuable information to residents and potential buyers of your chosen territory by posting articles and comments regularly – be it daily, weekly or monthly. Aside from giving information you should also provide a menu of services that you provide in order to generate potential leads which convert into actual business for you.
Third, according to James Kimmons (the Real Estate Business Expert in About.com), blogs do better with search engines if new content is regularly posted. If your website appears in the top 10 sites in Google Search then that will be a great and wonderful result for you. This will create more potential leads for you which you can hopefully translate into professional fees.
The key here is to post new articles regularly – and, not just any articles. They must be relevant, fresh and informative. It entails hard work and does need 100% commitment on the part of the real estate broker. If done properly, however, it is a very effective marketing tool.
More and more real estate brokers are starting to take notice that blogging is an integral part of their marketing efforts. However, it does take hard work to make sure your real estate website is a success.
There are “DOs” and “DON’Ts” in real estate blogging that contribute to the success of your website. Should you display your listing on your real estate blog? Is writing about properties on your real estate blog the right thing to do? How do you take advantage of social networking and tie it up with your real estate blog?
